Day 1
Day 1 | 8.28.2026 | Bishkek – Kochkor
(260 km, around 5 hours of driving in total)

Upon arrival at the airport early in the morning, meet your local guide and driver.

Breakfast in the city, then transfer to Kochkor. Along the way, visit the Burana Tower, a historical site on the Great Silk Road dating back to the 11th century.

Explore the ruins of the ancient city, the minaret, a small museum, and observe the collection of balbals (stone figures) and petroglyphs.

Lunch with a local family near the Burana Tower.

Continue the drive to Kochkor. Upon arrival, check in at the guesthouse and rest. In the afternoon, a short walk around the village.

Dinner and overnight: Guesthouse Nomad Lodge or similar
Altitude during the day: Bishkek – 800 m, 1700 m in Kochkor
Pro tip: I recommend flying in the night before and staying in Bishkek so you can wake up fresh and ready to adventure the next day. I will be there the day before and can share hotel options for you to book!
Day 2
8.29.2026 | Kochkor – Song-Kul
(140 km, around 3.5-4 hours of driving)

After breakfast, we will visit the women’s cooperative Altyn Kol, which produces traditional Kyrgyz felt carpets called “Shyrdak” and “Ala-Kiiz.” You will see a presentation on how these carpets are made and have the opportunity to participate in the production.

Afterwards, travel to the jailoo (Summer Pasture) at Son-Kul Lake (3016 m above sea level) by car (3 hours) via the Kalmak-Ashuu Pass (3477 m). Picnic for lunch on the way.

Accommodation in yurts under the stars! Spend the rest of the day enjoying the surrounding landscapes and relaxing in the area. At night, the
nearness of the stars will take your breath away.

Day 3
8.30.2026 | Song-Kul
(140 km, around 3.5-4 hours of driving)

After breakfast at the yurt camp, you will observe the lifestyle of the Kyrgyz nomads.

You will taste the national Kyrgyz dishes: besh-barmak (“five fingers”), shorpo, kuurdak, chobogo,
traditional nomad bread – boorsok and mare’s milk. You will also participate in baking the
bread & watch mares being milked and try to prepare kumyz.

If you want to, you may take a
horseback riding (for an additional payment) or hike around the valley.

Day 4
8.31.2026 | Song-Kul – At-Bashy (250 km, around 5 hours of driving)

After breakfast, transfer to At-Bashy village via Moldo-Ashuu Pass (3,346 m above the sea level).

On the way we will stop in Naryn for lunch. Nestled in a dramatic canyon, Naryn was founded as a fortress along a caravan route in the mid-19th century. Today, it serves as a key
transport hub connecting Kyrgyzstan with China.

After lunch, visit the local market then
continue the drive to At-Bashy.

Day 5
9.1.2026 | At-Bashy – Kel-Suu – Naryn
(170 km, around 3.5 hours of driving)

After breakfast, transfer to the base camp, then embark on our half-day hiking excursion to Kel-Suu Lake. Located at an altitude of 3,514 meters, Kel-Suu Lake is a high-altitude alpine lake formed by an earthquake and a subsequent landslide in the 1980s.

A picnic lunch along the way. After the hike, transfer back to Naryn town. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Dinner at a
local restaurant.

Day 6
9.2.2026 | Naryn – Tamga
(300 km, around 5.5 hours of driving)

After breakfast, transfer to Tamga village with several stops along the way.

We will drive along the southern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake, enjoying scenic views en route. The first stop will be in the village of Kyzyl-Tuu, famous for its talented artisans who make the wooden yurts. An artisan
will demonstrate the process of yurt production. Lunch with the family.

Afterwards, we will drive to Jaichi Gorge for an eagle hunting show. The hunter will explain the process of hunting and share interesting facts about the birds.

Later, stop at Fairy Tale Canyon, where we will take a walk with a duration of 1-2 hours. The canyon was named due to its bizarre rocky landscape, which for many years has been transformed by wind into fabulous sculptures and formations.

Upon arrival in Tamga, check in at the yurt camp on the shore of the Issyk-Kul Lake.

Day 7
9.3.2026 | Tamga – Karakol – Tepke
(120 km, around 3 hours of driving)

After breakfast at the guesthouse, transfer to Karakol town.

Upon arrival in Karakol, start the acquaintance with the city and its history. Visit the museum of Prjevalskiy, the explorer of Central Asia in XIX C., Dungan Mosque and wooden Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity.

Later for lunch, visit a Uighur family (a small Muslim ethnic group that emigrated from China). The hosts will offer lagman - traditional homemade noodles similar to Italian pasta.

Then continue trip to the farm Reina Kench and stay at the guesthouse on the farm.

Altitude during the day: Tamga – 1650 m, Karakol – 1700 m, Tepke – 1700 m
Day 8
9.4.2026 | Tepke – Chon-Kemin
(310 km, around 5.5 hours of driving)

After breakfast at the guesthouse on the farm, transfer to the northern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake.

Visit hippodrome and Kyrchyn (former Semenovka Gorge) gorge to see the events of World Nomad Games (Horse Game Kok-Boru, Horse racings, Nomad’s wrestling, Archery, cultural activities).

Lunch at a local restaurant in Balykchy or Cholpon-Ata, then continue the transfer to Chon-Kemin Nature Park.

Upon arrival, check in at the guesthouse. Then, together with the host family, prepare traditional Kyrgyz boorsok - small pieces of dough fried in oil.

Day 9
Day 9 | 5.09.2026 | Chon-Kemin – Bishkek
(180 km, around 4 hours of driving in total)

After breakfast at the the guesthouse, drive to the capital city, Bishkek. Upon arrival, lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, start the city tour. Visit Ala-Too square, Oak park, the museum, and learn about Bishkek's rich history.

Afterwards, there will be time for shopping in the city center or at Osh bazaar

Farewell dinner and folklore show at a local restaurant.

Day 10 | 6.09.2026 | Bishkek – Airport

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport. Fly home.

Many nationalities — including Canada, the US, UK, EU, Australia, and New Zealand — can enter Kyrgyzstan visa-free for up to 60 days. Passport validity of at least six months is recommended. Always double-check requirements based on your passport before departure.

Is there cell service or Wi-Fi?
Cell service is available in cities and towns, but limited or nonexistent in remote mountain areas. Wi-Fi can be spotty and slow outside of major centers. Many travelers purchase a local SIM card in Bishkek. This trip is best approached as a partial digital detox.

Yes — swimming is possible in some lakes, but be aware that mountain lakes are very cold year-round. Places like Issyk-Kul are more popular for swimming, while high-altitude lakes like Son-Kul or Kel Suu are more about scenery than comfort swimming.
